Townhalls

Engaging a global workforce

For a global logistics leader, internal communications needs to do more than inform, it has to connect and create a sense of community, despite the distance between employees.

With teams spread across regions, roles, and time zones, quarterly townhalls are a moment for the leadership and senior management to share updates, align the business and reinforce culture. But even more important was how to engage employees and foster open, active dialogue, alongside a consistent, high-quality experience that would attract viewers’ attention and hold it.

Rethinking the corporate townhall

We worked closely with the senior leadership team to reshape the townhall format, focusing on clarity, confidence, and connection. Presentation coaching helped to improve delivery and on-screen presence, together with redesigned slide decks that simplified content and reinforced the narrative. This allowed for a more natural, confident delivery style that felt less scripted and more authentic.

Each townhall was delivered as a high-quality livestream broadcast from a different location each quarter to keep the format fresh and reflective of the organisation’s global footprint. A standout broadcast was even delivered from a ferry!

To help move beyond one-way communication, we introduced tools to make it easier for employees to participate, including an anonymous Q&A solution to help staff ask honest questions, and a roving ‘throwable’ mic to spark interaction with the audience watching in the room.

Our approach helped evolve the organisation’s internal communications from a routine update into a genuinely engaging event, with an increase in audience numbers and view times.
