Following one developing project across Scotland
Nominet Trust and Action for Children needed interviews and supporting cutaways from a project developing over several months in Scotland.
The filming moved through Edinburgh during the Beast from the East and later to another location farther north, while the footage still needed to form one clear end to end journey.
Consistent location filming across people and places
Jay Rozanski and Scott carried out the Scottish filming, recording first hand interviews and the visual detail required to connect each stage of the work.

Scottish location filming for Digital Reach
Nominet Trust’s Digital Reach programme supported six initiatives exploring how digital services could help disadvantaged young people. Action for Children’s project focused on digitising employability support for vulnerable young people in Scotland.
We joined the project as a location filming team. Jay Rozanski and Scott recorded interviews and supporting cutaways over several shoots, gathering the people, places and activity needed to explain the work as a connected journey.
A story developed over several months
The first filming was completed in February 2018. Further production days followed as the initiative developed, giving the team material from more than one point in the project’s progress.
That continuity mattered to the original brief. A single interview could introduce an idea, while the wider collection of conversations and observational cutaways showed the programme taking shape across different locations and stages.
Filming in Edinburgh through severe winter weather
One production day took Jay and Scott to Edinburgh during the Beast from the East. The severe weather formed part of the real conditions surrounding the shoot and the team continued recording the interviews and cutaways required for the story.
A later filming day took the crew farther north in Scotland, extending the journey beyond Edinburgh.
Interviews provided the first hand account
The interviews gave the project a direct human voice. They created a factual route through the purpose of the work and the experience of the people involved, grounded in what contributors could explain on camera.
We supported those conversations with location cutaways. These visual details gave the edit a sense of place and supplied the connective material needed to move between speakers, locations and stages of the initiative.
Building an end to end project journey
The original production description defines the purpose clearly: the combined footage needed to form an end to end journey. Each shoot therefore added another part of the same account, with interviews carrying the explanation and cutaways showing its setting.
This is a useful example of location video production for a story that develops over time. The value came from returning to the project, maintaining a consistent factual approach and gathering material that could work together in one programme.

Nominet Trust later became Social Tech Trust. Social Tech Trust’s public Action for Children film explains the wider Digital Reach initiative and its work around employability support in Scotland.
