Product launch video production helps an audience understand what a product does, why it matters and what to do next. We plan the script, demonstrations, interviews and graphics around those questions, then create the versions needed for the launch.
A founder can spend years understanding a product and still have only a few minutes to make a new audience care about it. That first explanation has to feel simple without becoming simplistic. People need to see the problem, recognise the difference and trust the people asking them to believe in the idea.
That was the human challenge behind our work for HDMIPi, Vektra, Mech5, Acer, MyBrymec and the Brymec EXO range. Some projects needed backers. Others needed buyers, installers or learners. Each required a different balance of interviews, live action, demonstration, animation and voiceover.

The shared method was script2screen: decide what the audience needs to understand, plan how every claim will be shown and carry that logic through filming, graphics, editing and client review.
Begin with the audience’s real question
Product teams naturally know their product in detail. The audience begins somewhere else. They may be asking whether the product solves a recognisable problem, whether it is credible and whether they can understand it quickly enough to continue watching.
HDMIPi was designed for Raspberry Pi users seeking an affordable portable HD screen. The campaign film needed to speak to a technically curious maker audience while establishing the people and practical purpose behind the product.
Mech5 needed to explain cloud based vehicle diagnostics. The audience had to connect physical hardware, a software interface and a real automotive use case.
Vektra’s thermal insulated electric kettle required a consumer facing explanation of a product difference that could be shown through design, use and carefully attributed claims.
The first production task in each case is identifying the question the audience needs answered first.
HDMIPi: a campaign film with measurable action
We planned and filmed the HDMIPi Kickstarter story in Sheffield on 3 October 2013. Founder and expert interviews were combined with workshop material, component coverage, product demonstrations and a short planned motion graphics sequence.
The film gave the product a human route through Dave Mellor of Cyntech and Alex Eames of RasPi.TV. Their knowledge helped establish credibility with an audience already familiar with Raspberry Pi.
The campaign went on to raise £261,250.46 from 2,523 backers, reaching 475 percent of its £55,000 goal. Those figures show the commercial context in which the launch film operated.
The useful lesson is that a crowdfunding film must connect explanation with action. The audience needs to understand the product, trust the people and know what its support will enable.
Live action and animation for Mech5
Mech5 combined interviews with four expert contributors, roleplay, product demonstrations, interface footage and motion graphics. That mixture revealed the full product experience through a purposeful sequence of views.
Live action showed the people and use case. Screen material demonstrated the interface. Animation helped connect the technical steps and make the cloud element visible.
We aligned those components before filming, giving the edit a strong interview and pictures capable of carrying the explanation.
For connected products, the film often needs to move between physical and digital behaviour. Planning that transition makes it part of the narrative from the start.
A product range needs consistency and distinction
The Brymec EXO commission covered eight product films: Exo Boss, Daptor, Denser, Guard, Hanger, Pump, Slide and Shield. We owned the full script2screen process, combining a one day Surrey shoot with animation, motion graphics, captions, voiceover, editing and versioned client review.
A multi film range introduces two competing needs. Every film should feel part of the same family, while each product must retain a clear individual reason to exist.
Shared visual rules, opening and closing treatments, caption styles and review stages create consistency. Product specific demonstrations, comparisons and feature emphasis create distinction.
We used storyboards and a shared amendment tracker to manage the detail. Sequences were refined around timing, product behaviour, feature language and visual consistency. The coordination across eight deliverables provides the proof.
Training and product adoption
MyBrymec extended product communication into training animation. The objective extended from launch awareness into practical understanding, so the viewer could use the process.
Training content requires a different pace and hierarchy. Steps must appear in a logical order. Interface actions and decisions need to be readable. The film should reduce uncertainty without loading the viewer with unnecessary detail.
Acer product content similarly needed to turn features into a clear case study style explanation. The useful principle is to organise features around user value. Specifications become memorable when the viewer understands what they enable.
Demonstration is stronger than decoration
A product film earns credibility when it shows the product doing the thing being claimed.
For a kettle, that may mean design, handling and use. For automotive diagnostics, it means connecting device, interface and outcome. For a building services product, it may require a comparison or an installation sequence. For software or training, it may mean screen capture supported by animation.
Motion graphics should clarify relationships, reveal an invisible process or organise information. They work best alongside direct visual proof.
This is why live action and animation often work best together. Live action establishes the real object, person or environment. Animation explains what the camera cannot see.
Review is part of the product story
Product accuracy matters. A small error in terminology, sequence or comparison can undermine the entire film.
Versioned review allows product specialists to check facts while the production team protects clarity and pace. Storyboards and scripts give clients an early opportunity to correct the argument. Edit reviews then refine timing, product shots, graphics, captions and voiceover.
For Brymec, we managed detailed product specific changes across eight films. For HDMIPi and Mech5, we set the intended narrative and visual allocation before the main edit. In each case, review became part of quality control throughout the production.
What an effective launch film contains
An effective product launch film normally gives the audience five things: a recognisable problem, a clear product difference, credible people or evidence, a demonstration and a next step.
The balance changes by product. A Kickstarter film may foreground founders and ambition. A consumer film may emphasise use and design. An engineering film may require more process evidence. A training film may prioritise sequence and confidence.
Our product work demonstrates the ability to select and combine live action, interviews, demonstration, animation, motion graphics and voiceover around that purpose.
The aim is to make the genuine innovation easy to understand and difficult to overlook.
The results were practical as well as promotional. Vektra’s film generated positive internal feedback and requests from customers to use it in sales conversations, while the Brymec EXO series was refined through detailed product by product review before being used by the client’s sales team.

What to include in a product video brief
Share the audience, launch date, key product differences and evidence supporting any claims. Confirm which products and contributors are available to film, where demonstrations can take place and who signs off technical accuracy.
List the required website, presentation and social versions before production so framing, captions and edit lengths can be planned together.
